Volunteering:
The Cancer Insitute Foundation has a strong history of volunteer services. A cadre of trained volunteers, many of whom are cancer survors, provide a variety of services for patients in treament as well as assistance with community education programs. Our Buddy Program matches cancer survivors with newly diagnosed patients to provide extra support and encouragement during treatment. The Foundation also offers communithy cancer screenings, educational forums and materials that inform the public about cancer prevention, early detection, diagnostics, treatments and survivorship. Since 2003 we have provided over 10,000 hours of free services – our volunteers are everywhere and more good people and ideas are always welcome.
As a volunteer, you act in a personal capacity to improve the quality of cancer patients' lives through one-on-one interaction with the people most in need of both emotional and practical support - patients and families.
